NORD - First Game of Indie Vendor

Hey Guys! First game out. NORD

This game was made in approximately 4 h 43 min.
A challenge that I gave myself to brush up my skills to make a game within the day, and I did it! :D
NORD is a scrolling shooter, a frantic one some may call it. Speeding along as NORD you have to blow apart all the ANTI-NORDS until the event where you are overcome by the odds and destroyed. 10 different weapon upgrades are given throughout your time playing that give a a slight advance over the incoming battalion, but beware, the amount of ANTI-NORDS triple every time you level up your weapon. So, good luck NORD.

Gravity Box - Bleep Blipp

Gravity Box is a frantic arcade shooter made by Fatalsleep, you can play it here. I have interacted with the developer of this game for about a year and a half or so, and at first, I was giving him help when he was still using drag and drop on game maker. Now, I come back to yoyo and Gamejolt after 6 months of not logging on, and here he has not only made awesome looking games, but he has also accelerated at programming immensely in the past year or so. I don't want to sound like a dad, but im proud of him for sticking it out and becoming the awesome programmer he is today. Well, now, down to what I'm reviewing.
This game was made for the GameJolt Music Interpretation Contest, and by golly, I think it deserves a win. The opening looks awesome with its lighting and blend system, and the music sound eerie as it fades into the menu. I particularly like how the game fades into a random colour every time you launch the game, the colours change on you also throughout your time playing which adds a cool element to it, the neon looks awesome and the light fading the edges looks fabulous. But it doesn't end there, the game play is quite cool and unique as the box your trapped in spins and shakes in circles and adds extra effect to playing experience. You main aim is to shoot the oblong shapes emerging from the darkened corners of the view and by shooting, it increases your score. Achievements also spruce up the game adding more competitive addicting fun. The only thing i don't like about it is the bleeping and bliping thought the time playing. Other than that, its a worthwhile play, so why don't you give it a go?

Swarm Wars - Can some one say "epic"?

Swarm Wars is an Indie game made by developer Lockdowne that combines war tactics with good old board game like goodness, you can play it here. First off, when you launch the game you find its not one exactly for looks, but I implore, don't let it turn you off. This game has the essence of any major strategy game such as Age of Empires or Star Craft, and combines it with something like a good old board game, so put those thoughts out of your mind. I love this game mainly because the many strategic element to it, being able to choose out of many different choices to overcome your enemy, things like this make a game addictive, very addictive. Secondly there isn't a shortage of maps, that's for sure, you will be playing this for a while when you get hooked. Notice I said "when" you get hooked, yes, its inevitable.  Your goal is to conquer the universe consisting of 6 multi-coloured planets, each one with quite a few maps and varying difficulty. Once your in the planet, now is when the fun starts. You are given a certain amount of hives (depending on the difficulty) and so is your opponent, each with their own amount of hive members, there are also vacant hives varying in size and vulnerability. The hives strength thrives on its "drones" which regenerate depending on your regeneration skill points. Your victory pretty much depends on the drones size in numbers and how many hives your controlling, and how many you let the enemy capture, and how many the enemy lets you capture theirs. Then there is the hive "levelling" feature that you are able to upgrade your hives regeneration, damage and speed, which adds some more of that addictive feel of the whole game. Another really cool thing to do is chain attacks that allow you to roll-over all of your hives and combine your strength to attack one hive.
In addition to its main "classic mode" it has free-play modes that allow you to change the rules around a little bit to king of the hill or perpetual defence mode types, which enables even more fun on top of the game itself.
But the only thing it lacks in my opinion is a multipalyer game mode, it is the PERFECT material for it. I have actually considered making a game of my own with the same type of theme if the creator lockdowne permits it, and insert all of the multiplayer modes and battle types. It all depends on my game making priorities.
Overall its a very cunning and intuitive game that requires much thought in its strategic gameplay.
Its a very good game, I highly suggest giving it a try.

Asteroid Belt - MIG-51 fighter jet in space?

Asteroid Belt is a web based browser game made with Unity 3d by Alexander Bizul. You can play it here.
Most like any other space based asteroid shooting game, your shooting with one button, and moving with the other, simple right? Actually, it gets quite harder. Its pretty fun until the whole screen fills with a million asteroids by the nature of progressive code, but that doesn't stop it from being fun. Right off the graphics look nice, most like any other game made with unity, it delivers truly spectacular lighting and model quality to Indie games. The MIG-51 fighter jet looks quite nice with some bump mapping and reflections.
Overall, this will entertain you for only a while, due to no high scores, which kind of really sucks... the game has some cool potential, and it can fulfil all of it in my opinion if online high scores are added. I don't know, i think its a pretty cool game, the effects are nice with all the explosions and smooth particles. Its worth a check out, so why don't you give it a few minutes of your time?

BattleCraft - Get your spacesuit ready

Battle craft is a free to play Online 3D top-down shooter Capture the Flag experience made by Silverleaf Games. Right when starting, your assigned to a random team, which ever one has the disadvantage of players, and your team must capture the enemy flag while preventing the opposing team from capturing yours. While being pretty simple, it has its pros, and cons. First of all the graphics look nice right off the loading screen (a menu would be nice), the models move seamlessly and the character design looks cool, which is usually always the case with a Unity game. You are running through a pretty big map that consists of halls and rooms with varying objects filling them, of what looks like a deserted moon base. You are given one weapon, a machine gun, to mow down your opponents. Some grenades would make it a little more interesting and maybe something like a shotgun? I don't know if this is considered a WIP or not but it seems like one. It is a little buggy, like being able to point your gun through a wall and shoot out the other side. But, who cares?  If its playable, and you can have fun with your buds on Gamejolt, lets game.

Minecraft 1.9 pre-release: get it while its hot!

Mojang has released their 1.9 pre release, if you want it, get the jar file here. The new released content contains some new crafting abilities, such as an enchantment table and some other new crafting options. They have also added baby animals that evolve into grown farm animals that you have known so well. And there is the chance to meet a big nosed NPC or the rare mushroom cow. The Levelling has evolved into putting a little number between your hunger and heath showing your current level, which is a start, but until they add some reason for all the experience you are bestowed, its no where near finished. I am actually quite curious as to how they will play this out, the amount of upgrades you would be able to inherit onto your current character would be very limited, but if you were able to throw fireballs out of your bare hands... now that would be awesome. Hey, if you can fell a tree with your bare hands, why not?
